How does a ducted system work?

A single outdoor condenser connects to an indoor fan unit, usually sitting in the roof space, which pushes conditioned air through insulated ducting to outlets in each room. A central control panel (and optional zoning) lets you run only the rooms you're using, so you're not heating or cooling empty bedrooms during the day.

Because most of the system sits in the ceiling cavity, the only things visible in the finished rooms are slim ceiling diffusers and one wall-mounted controller — a cleaner look than multiple split system heads.

Is ducted or split system right for your home?

Ducted systems suit homes where you want most or all rooms covered, or where the look of wall-mounted units doesn't fit the interior. They're a bigger job — roof space access, ducting runs, and often a full day or two on site — but they cover the whole house from one system.
